TODAY’S GAME: Tonight is game 4 of the 6-game series in 5 days with the M-Braves at Pringles Park. Miss. leads the current series 2-1, but Jackson leads season series 8-5. The Generals are in the midst of a 16 games in 15 days stretch covering 3 cities. Jackson is 3 games back of Chattanooga in the SL North second half standings.

GENERALS RECAP:Nate Tenbrink homered in the 9th for Jackson, breaking up the shutout, but was not enough as the M-Braves won Wednesday at Pringles Park, 2-1. Pitching dominated the third game of the series as the M-Braves scored first in the 2nd inning on a double from Phil Gosselin that scored Evan Gattis from first. The Braves mad it 2-0 in the 6th inning by adding a single from Joe Leonard that scored Joe Terdoslavich. Jackson starter James Gillheeney (0-1) left after 5.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits, walking none and striking out 3. Gillheeney took the loss in the game. Down the final out and strike, Tenbrink hit a solo home run to right, his 7th of the year, making it a 2-1 game. Cory Rasmus struck out Stefen Romero, the next batter to end the game. Tenbrink posted two of the Generals six hits, going 2-for-4 with the homer. Generals relievers Jose Jiminez and Jandy Sena combined to shutout the Braves over the final 2.1 innings. David Hale (7-4) got the win for the Braves and Rasmus picked up his 4th save.

VIRAL VIDEO: During yesterday’s perfect game pitched by Felix Hernandez in Seattle a video of the Generals reaction during batting practice has gone viral. The video featuring Felix’s brother Moises has been aired on, MLB Network, ESPN Sports Center and Yahoo Sports today. As of 1:30 this afternoon it had 18,444 views on YouTube.

MAURER POWER: Today’s starter RH Brandon Maurer ranks 4th in the Southern League with a 3.35 ERA. He also leads the Generals in wins (8), strikeouts (115) and innings pitched (132.1). In 5 starts in July, Maurer was 3-0, with a 1.99 ERA (7 ER, 31.2 IP). Since June 1 he is 6-1 with a 2.69 ERA (24 ER, 80.1 IP) win 9 qualitiy starts in 13 starts. During this stretch has lowered his season ERA from 4.38 to 3.35.

“KISS IT GOODBYE”: Over the course of the last 30 games, the Generals have hit 30 home runs, including 9 multi-homer games. The Generals lead the league with 98 homers this season. Mobile and Jacksonville are T-2nd in the league with 89 home runs.

ZUNINO PROMOTED TO JACKSON: Monday, the Mariners promoted 2012 #3 overall pick Mike Zunino to Jackson from Short-A Everett. Zunino was batting .373 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI and a .74 on-base percentage in 29 games since signing on July 3rd. Zunino was the 2012 Golden Spikes Award Winner and National Player of the Year in college baseball out of Florida. He was also the Johnny Bench award winner given to the nations top catcher.

BEST IN THE SOUTHERN LEAGUE: The Generals lead the league in ERA (3.26). The Generals position players also lead the league in total bases (1625), slugging percentage (.402) and home runs (97).

RECORD SETTING PACE: The Generals 69 wins is the fastest to that mark since 2005. The Generals are 5 games off the pace off of the 2005 Diamond Jaxx that won 83 games and 6 off the pace of the 1999 Diamond Jaxx that won a record 84 games. Last season the Generals won just 68 games and the most won since becoming at Mariners affiliate in 2006 was 75 that season.

#VIVALAROMERO: INF Stefen Romero has hit safely 37 of 44 games (w/AB) with 19 multi-hit games with Jackson since his promotion, batting .345 (57×168) with 29 runs scored, 13 doubles, 3 triple, 9 home runs and 39 RBI. Romero has hit safely in each of his last 9 games, batting .438 (14×32) with 6 runs scored, 4 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run and 8 RBI.

FUNKY COLD MEDINA: RH Yoervis Medina has allowed 3 runs in his last 37.1 innings in relief (0.72 ERA). During this 25 game stretch has limited opponents to a .195 (25×128) average, while walking 14 and striking out 39.

MILLER TIME: SS Brad Miller has hit safely in 16 of 22 games since his promotion to Jackson, batting .293 (24×82) with 11 runs scored, 2 doubles, 3 home runs and 7 RBI. He currently leads all Mariners farmhands with 51 multi-hit games this season, batting a combined .333 (163×491) with 100 runs scored, 35 doubles, 5 triples, 14 home runs and 63 RBI. His 163 hits are currently 2nd-most in the Minor Leagues this season, while 100 runs scored rank 4th
