TODAY’S GAME: The Generals (9-12) continue the five-game series tonight (1-0) in Chattanooga, TN against the Dodgers AA affiliate Chattanooga Lookouts (9-12) at AT&T Field. 23-year-old righty Brett Shankin makes his third Generals start.. Shankin will be making his 29th career start as he is 10-10, with a 5.25 ERA over his first 2+ pro seasons. Shankin was 1-1, with a 2.61 ERA for A+ High Desert this season before being transferred to Jackson.

YOU ALREADY KNOW…that Jackson starter Taijuan Walker is T-1st in the Southern League with 32 strikeouts But, DID YOU KNOW?…that Walker ranks 1st in the SL in opponents AVG (.150), 2nd in IP (29.0) and 9th in ERA (1.55).

GENERALS RECAP: The Generals scored 3 runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings as Jackson defeated Chattanooga 6-2 on Thursday night. Starter Taijuan Walker (7.0,2,1,1,4,7) recorded his 2nd win of the season, allowing 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 7 in 7.0 innings. RH Stephen Kohlscheen (1.0,1,0,0,0,3) struck out 3 in the 8th inning, while RH Carson Smith (1.0,1,1,1,0,1, WP) allowed 1 run before securing the victory in the 9th inning. RF James Jones (2×4, 2 R, 3B, 2 RBI) and C John Hicks (1×4, R, 2B, 2 RBI) each led the team with 2 RBI, while 2B Jack Marder (1×3, RBI, BB) and DH Abraham Almonte (0x2, RBI, 2 BB) each knocked in a run for Jackson.

STREAK ENDER: The Generals held Chattanooga CF Joc Pederson to an 0x2 night last night ending his Southern League leading 17-game hitting streak. Now Jackson C John Hicks holds the longest active streak in the league at 7 games.

NORTHERN EXPOSURE: After facing South Division opponents during the first 20 games of the season, Jackson is now in the midst of playing 20 of 25 games against fellow Northern Division foes.

START ME UP: The Generals’ starting rotation currently leads the SL with a 1.90 ERA. As a whole, Jackson’s pitching staff has a league-best 2.90 ERA through the first 21 games.

    Do you feel that Walker’s walks are wildness or him trying to be too perfect (Hultzen’s problem at Tacoma last year)?
    How would you compare Miller, Triunfel and Franklin as defensive shortstops? the Mariners seem to think Miller is the real shortstop of the bunch.
