GENERALS RECAP:  – Danny Hultzen allowed just two hits over 6 1/3 innings Thursday night helping Jackson (10-5) shutout the M-Braves (5-10) at Pringles Park, 2-0. The Generals won the series 3-2. Rich Poythress smacked a two-run homer to left in the fourth inning and that was all the offense Jackson needed. Hultzen (1-2) (6.1,2,0,0,2,5) earned his first professional victory on Thursday night after dropping his first two decisions. Nick Franklin (2×4, 2B, R) scored on the Poythress homer in the fourth inning and has reached base in 11 of 12 games he has played. Rich Poythress (1×4, HR, 2 RBI) now leads the team with 10 RBI on the season. Jesus Sucre (0x2, BB) saw his 7-game hitting streak come to an end. Stephen Pryor (1.0,0,0,1,1) locked down his fourth save in four chances this season with a scoreless ninth inning. Stephen Hensley (1.1,0,0,0,0,2) relieved Hultzen in the seventh and earned his first hold.

WHO’S HOT?: C Jesus Sucre saw his team best 7-game hitting streak come to an end. During the streak he batted .360 (9×25) with 5 runs scored, 1 double and 5 RBI. RH Carter Capps (7.2 IP), LH Brian Moran (6.1), RH Moises Hernandez (4.2), LH Steve Garrison (4.1) and RH Jandy Sena (3.0) have yet to allow a run this season. The bullpen is a combined 4-2 with 6 saves and a 1.35 ERA (9 ER, 60.0 IP) while walking 21 and striking out 61 strikeouts this season.

DOMINATING THE LEAGUE: The Generals pitching staff has struck out a league-best 142 batters so far this season and also lead the league with a 2.19 team ERA. The next closest is Mobile with a team ERA of 3.10.
