SS Chris Taylor (3×5, 2 R, 2B, 3B, 2 RBI) and RF James Jones (3×4, 2 R, RBI) each recorded 3 of Jackson’s 14 hits, while DH Julio Morban (2×4, 2 R, RBI), C John Hicks (2×4, 2 R, 2B, HR, RBI) and 2B Gabriel Noriega (2×4, R, HR, RBI) each recorded multi-hit games. 1B Ji-Man Choi (1×4, R, HR, 4 RBI) drove in a team-high 4 runs on a grand slam with 2 outs in the 5th inning. GENERALS RECAP: The Generals lost their 3rd straight game Wednesday, falling 6-0 to Tennessee at Smokies Park. The shutout marked the 7th of the season for Jackson as Smokies’ starter Kyle Hendricks dominated the Generals for the 3rd time this season. Jackson’s best scoring threat was in the 7th inning as LF Leon Landry (2-3, 2 1B), 1B Ji-Man Choi (1-4, 1B), and 3B Steven Proscia (1-3, 1B) had back-to-back-to-back singles to load the bases, but the Generals were unable to score a run. Generals starter LH James Gillheeney (L, 5.1,8,6,6,1,2,1) suffered the loss. Relievers Stephen Kohlscheen and Nick Hill provided 2.2 innings of scoreless relief behind Gillheeney.

GENERALS RECAP: The Generals rallied from a 6-2 deficit to tie the game with a run in the top of the 9th, but the rally fell short as Jackson lost to Tennessee 7-6 in 14 innings on Tuesday night. Starter Anthony Vasquez (4.2,8,6,4,2,4,2HR) made his Double-A debut this season, allowing 6 runs (4 ER) on 8 hits in 4.2 innings, but didn’t figure into the decision. Relievers Moises Hernandez (2.0,1,0,0,0,0), LH Kyle Hunter (0.2,0,0,0,1,0), RH Carson Smith (1.2,0,0,0,0,3), RH Tyler Burgoon (2.0,0,0,0,1,3) and RH Stephen Shackleford (2.0,1,0,0,2,3) combined to limit the Smokies to only 2 hits and striking out 10 over 8.1 innings in relief. RH Andrew Kittredge (0.2,2,1,1,0,1) recorded the loss allowing the winning run to score with 2 outs in the bottom of the 14th. CF Denny Almonte (2×6, 2B, RBI), LF Leon Landry (2×6, R, RBI), 1B Ji-Man Choi (2×3, R, 2B, RBI, BB) each recorded 2 of Jackson’s 9 hits. 3B/1B Ramon Morla (1×5, 2 R, HR, RBI, BB) hit a solo home run with 2 outs in the 1st inning to give Jackson an early lead. 2B Chris Taylor, who made his Double-A debut after being promoted from Single-A High Desert, went 1-for-6 with a run scored.

GENERALS RECAP: Monday’s series opener seemed like a home run derby as the Generals fell 5-1 to the Smokies and combined for 4 home runs. Every run came via the homer as Tennessee’s Justin Bour hit 2 long balls in the contest. Smokies starter Alberto Cabrera struck out a career-high 13 batters and went 8 strong for the win. The loss marks the 8th loss for Jackson against the Smokies this year in 11 meetings. DH Ji-Man Choi (1-3, HR) gave Jackson the early lead 1-0 as he hammered his 4th home run of the season and 11th overall  in the top of the 2nd inning. CF Denny Almonte (1-4) and C Mike Dowd (1-3) contributed the only other hits for the Generals. Roenis Elias (L, 3-7, 6.1,2,2,2,2,5,2) suffered a tough loss on the mound. His two mistakes were costly home runs that deciphered the outcome.

Generals Interview – Julio Morban

Julio Morban is leading the Southern League with a .330 batting average and is coming off one of the best games of his career. Morban drove in a career-high 5 runs in Jackson’s 10-5 win over Mobile. Morban tallied two doubles and his 5th homer of the year in the game.

The 21-year-old from the Dominican hasn’t done too many English interviews but took time to talk about his season, his relationship with James Jones and other teammates as well as his time in big league camp this spring.

GENERALS RECAP: Mobile lefty Andrew Chafin tossed his first complete game of his career striking out a season-high 8 Generals in Mobile’s 5-1 win over Jackson Friday night. DH Julio Morban was 2-for-4 in the loss for the Generals and is now batting a league-best .322 on the season. LH James Gillheeney suffered the loss for the Geneals.

YOU ALREADY KNOW…that the Generals face Mobile RHP Archie Bradley tonight, but DID YOU KNOW?…that Bradley is ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect for the Arizona Diamondbacks and was the 7th overall pick in the 2011 draft. Bradley turned down the chance to play quarterback at Oklahoma for a $5 million signing bonus from the Diamondbacks.

NEW FRESH PRINCE OF TACOMA: RH Taijuan Walker was promoted to Tacoma Friday. He struck out a career-high 12 on Thursday against Mobile. In his last 5 starts, has struck out 39 and walked 5 in 32 2/3 innings, all while allowing opponents to hit just .191 (21-for-110). He’s now made 39 starts for the Generals in 2 seasons complete with rates of 9.1 strikeouts and 3.4 walks per nine innings.
– Walker leads the league and Mariners’ organization in strikeouts with 96.
