GENERALS RECAP:
• The Stars cored 5 runs on 10 hits Monday and four of those runs and 9 of the hits came with 2 outs in a 5-2 win over the Generals Monday. The loss was Jackson’s 3rd straight.
• Jackson took a 2-1 lead after the first inning on an RBI double by Patrick Kivlehan (1×4), his 15th on the season. Julio Morban (0×4) added an RBI groundout to give Jackson the lead.
• Huntsville scored a run in the 5th and 2 more in the 7th to take a 5-2 lead.

GENERALS RECAP:
• The Generals received the first home runs of the year from Leon Landry (2×5, 2 R, 2B, HR RBI) and Ketel Marte (2×4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, BB), but it was not enough as Montgomery walked-off for the second consecutive night with a 9-8 win on Sunday at Riverwalk Stadium.
• Jackson went ahead 8-7 with a 2-run homer from Marte in the eighth, but Montgomery plated 2 runs in the ninth against reliever Trevor Miller to walk-off with the win.
• Brock Hebert (2×4, 2 R), Pat Kivlehan (2×4, 2 RBI) and Landry had 2-hit nights for Jackson in the loss, while D.J. Peterson (1×4, 2 R, BB) and Julio Morban (1×5, RBI) factored in offensively.

• The Generals and Biscuits play the rubber match of the series today in the finale of a 5-game series at Montgomery (2-2) at Riverwalk Stadium…Jackson is coming off back-to-back series victories at HVL (3-2) and vs. BIR (3-1)…have won 8 of 12 overall…will play 11 games with Montgomery over the course of the final 42 games, 6 coming at Riverwalk Stadium.

GENERALS RECAP:
• The Biscuits spoiled the Generals bid to lock up their third straight series victory with a 6-5 walk-off win Saturday at Riverwalk Stadium. • The loss evened the series at two wins each. Jackson scored four two-out runs in the seventh to take their first lead 5-3, but it was all spoiled by more dramatics in the ninth by the Biscuits.
• The walk-off loss also spoiled a chance for starter Victor Sanchez to win his third straight on the mound and be Jackson’s first six-game winner.
• Leon Landry (1×5, 2 R, SB) led the inning off with a double. With D.J. Peterson (2×5, R, 3 RBI), Brock Hebert (2×3, R, BB), Ketel Marte (2×5, R). and Pat Kivlehan (1×5, 2 RBI). had hits in the loss.
• Richard Vargas (1-2, 5.04) allowed all three runs in the ninth and suffered his first runs and loss of the second half

• The Generals scored 6 runs in the first 5 innings Friday, while starter Stephen Landazuri (7.0) and Cam Hobson (2.0) combined shutout the Biscuits, 6-0.
• Landazuri (4-2) worked 7.0 innings for the first time since 4/27/12 while with A- Clinton in a game at Great Lakes. It also was his first win since April 22 vs. Chattanooga.
• Patrick Kivlehan fiinished a triple away from the cycle going 3-for-4 with a single, double and home run. It was his 5th 3-hit performance for the Generals. Kivlehan had 3 of Jackson’s 8 hits.

GAME NOTES

TODAY’S GAME:
• The Generals continue a 5-game homestand tonight against the Birmingham Barons in Jackson with game 4 of the series (2-1)…are coming off a series win at Huntsville (3-2) and have won 5 of 7…also are 5-3 against Birmingham this season and will play the Barons 7 more times in Jackson the final 22 home games of the season.

GENERALS RECAP:
• DH Dario Pizzano hit 2 triples and drove in 3 runs and starter Victor Sanchez struck out 9 over 8.0 innings as Jackson defeated Birmingham 7-1 on Saturday night.
• Pizzano (2×3, 2 R, 2 3B, 3 RBI) and RF Kevin Rivers (2×3, R, 2 2B, RBI, BB) combined to record 4 of the teams 9 hits with 3 runs scored, 4 extra-base hits and 4 RBI.
• Starter Victor Sanchez (8.0,3,1,1,1,9,HR) allowed only 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 9 in 8.0 innings to pick up his 5th win of the season. RH Richard Vargas (1.0,0,0,0,0,0) tossed a 1-2-3 9th inning close out the game.

GENERALS HAVE WON FIVE OF LAST SEVEN GAMES:
• The Generals have posted double-digit hit totals in 6 of last 7 games (only 9 last night) and batted .310 (75×242) over their last 7 games, winning 5 of those, scoring 42 runs on 75 hits with 11 doubles, 5 triples and 10 home runs.
• Jackson now ranks 3rd in the league doubles (165), 2nd in triples (32), 4th in slugging (.387) and 3rd in batting (.263) on the season.

PETERSON PLAYING 1ST, BATTING 6TH IN FUTURES GAME:
• D.J. Peterson will miss his second straight game today because of playing in today’s Futures Game at 4:00 p.m.. He was named to the U.S. Team for the 2014 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game. Peterson will bat sixth and play first base for the U.S. squad at Target Field in Minneapolis as part of the All-Star Week festivities.

ODDS AND ENDS:
• Hot Hitting July – After batting .294 as a team in June, the Generals are currently batting .277 in July, which ranks 1st in the league. The 11 July home runs ranks 3rd in the league.
INF Patrick Kivlehan currently has a 6-game hit streak, batting .409 (9×22) with 7 runs scored, 1 double, 1 triple, 1 home run, 4 RBI and 2 walks.
• INF Dan Paolini has hit safely 9 of 10 games appeared in July, batting .389 (14×36) with 6 runs scored, 4 doubles, 2 home runs, 7 RBI and 2 walks.
• OF Dario Pizzano has hit safely in each of his last 6 games, batting .400 (8×20) with 6 runs scored, 2 doules, 3 triples, 1 home run, 9 RBI and 4 walks.
• OF Leon Landry has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games, batting .324 (22×68) with 8 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 4 RBI and 7 stolen bases. Since June 7, Landry has hit safely in 26 of his last 29 games with 15 multi-hit efforts, batting .356 (42×118) with 18 runs scored, 6 doubles, 3 triples, 7 RBI, 3 walks and 12 stolen bases. BRAZIS IMPRESSES IN FIRST TWO RELIEF OUTINGS:
• In 2 relief outings since coming up from A+ High Desert, RH Matt Brazis has faced 1 over the minimum in 7.1 innings. He gave up a solo home run to Greg Hopkins in his first outing which was the only hit or run allowed. He has walked 1 and struck out 6 so far.

PETERSON CONTINUES TO HIT FOR THE GENERALS:
• 3B D.J. Peterson homered last Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday in Huntsville and has now hit safely in 14 of 15 games with Jackson, including 7 straight. Peterson is batting .290 (18×62) with 8 runs scored, 4 doubles, 3 home runs, 7 RBI and 4 walks.

VIVA LA VARGAS IN THE SECOND HALF OUT OF PEN:
• RH Richard Vargas has appeared in 8 games since the All-Star break going 1-0, and is 3-for-3 in save opportunities, not allowing a run in 9.0 IP. Vargas has walked 4 and struck out 10, while giving up just 2 hits holding opponents to a .063 AVG (2×32). This is after going 0-1, with a 6.12 ERA in the first half going 2-for-4 in save opportunities walking 24 and striking out 30 in 32.1 IP.
