GENERALS RECAP: The Generals hit three home runs and pounded out 14 hits Saturday defeating the Smokies on at Smokies Park, 9-2. The second straight win for the Generals placed Jackson on top of the North Division by a ½ game. DH Kalian Sams hit a tape measure blast to left in the second inning that put Jackson on top 1-0 Sams was 1-for-5 and the homer was his second of the year. The game stayed 1-0 until the sixth when Jackson got a 2-run home run to left by 1B Steven Proscia and 2-RBI double by RF Daniel Carroll. The Generals led 5-0. It was Proscia’s first Double-A homer and he was 2-for-5 on the night. Carroll finished 3-for-5 with three doubles. After Tennessee scored their first run in the bottom of the sixth inning C Ralph Henriquez drilled a 3-run home run to left-center giving the Generals a 8-1 edge. Henriquez was 3-for-5 and scored two runs. Each team scored another run including a LF Chris Pettit RBI single in the eighth inning. Pettit was 2-for-4 on Saturday. LH Steve Garrison (2-1) made his second Jackson start and picked up the win tossing five shutout innings, allowing just three hits and striking out one.
