TODAY’S GAME:The Generals continue their 5-game homestand today at 12:05 against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. This is Pensacola’s 1st ever trip to Pringles Park. The Generals lead the season series, 4-3. Jackson has is a season best 10 games above .500, 31-21 and hold a 2 1/2 game lead in the SL North Division.

GENERALS RECAP: The Generals claimed their 2nd win over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on Tuesday night by the score of 4-2. The victory extended Jackson’s winning streak to 3 games. Pensacola scored in the 1st inning off an RBI double by Brodie Greene. The Generals answered right back in the bottom of the 1st with 2 runs on three hits.Francisco Martinez began the inning with a double to left and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Denny Almonte. Joe Dunigan reached second on a line drive to center and was driven home by a Jesus Sucre single. Jackson scored two more runs in the game, both thanks to solo home runs off RH J.C. Sulbaran (3-4, 4.58). Chih-Hsien Chiang hit his 1st Jackson home run in the 4th inning. Kalian Sams followed up in the 6th inning with his 4th homer of the year. Sams ended the night with 3 hits, the only multi-hit night for Jackson. LH Steve Garrison (3-1, 3.00) pitched 6 innings, giving up seven hits, two runs, two walks, and striking out two. Yoervis Medina was credited with his third hold of the year. Stephen Hensley earned his 2nd save of the year after striking out all three Pensacola batters in the ninth.

TOPS IN THE LEAGUE: The Generals are tied with Mobile for the best record in the Southern League, 31-21 on the year. The Generals also lead the league in ERA at 2.92. The next closest is Mobile with a 3.28 ERA.

PAXTON PLACED ON DL: Generals starter James Paxton was placed on the DL Tuesday with a sore right knee and will miss today’s start. Paxton left Saturday’s start after 2 2/3 innings with discomfort in his right knee.

WHO’S HOT?: INF Nick Franklin has hit safely in 9 of his last 11 games, batting .390 (16×41) with 5 runs scored, 5 doubles, 4 triples and 6 RBI.
-> LH Bobby LaFromboise has allowed only 1 earned run in his last 22.0 innings in relief (0.41 ERA). During his last 13 relief appearances he has limited opponents to a .145 average (11×76), while walking 4 and striking out 24. He has not allowed a hit to the last 16 batters faced (1 BB, 5 K).

THE INCREDIBLE HULTZ: After allowing 5 runs in 4.0 innings in his first start of the season, Danny Hultzen has allowed only 5 earned runs in 52.2 innings (0.86 ERA), lowering his ERA from 11.25 to 1.59 ERA. Overall in 10 starts this season, Hultzen is 5-3 with a  league best 1.59 ERA (10 ER, 56.2 IP). He has limited opponents to a league best .155 average (30×193), while walking 25 and striking out a league best 61.

THE VETERAN CAMPBELL REACHING: 27-year-old utility man Eric Campbell has reached base in 21 straight games, the 2nd longest active streak in the Southern League (1 behind Mobile’s Mark Krauss). During the streak Campbell is batting .307, with 2 home runs and 13 RBI.

THE FLAME THROWER: RH Carter Capps has not allowed a run in his last 12.2 innings in relief (9 games). This season he is 2-2 with 5 saves and a 1.78 ERA (5 ER, 25.1 IP). He has limited opponents to a .219 (21×96) average, while walking 5 and striking out 35. Capps has held opponents scoreless in 15 of 18 relief appearances this season. His 12.43 strikeouts per 9.0 innings currently ranks 3rd amongst relievers in the Southern League.
