TODAY’S GAME:The Generals begin their 10-game, 2 city road trip today in Chattanooga against the Lookouts (LAD). Today marks the 1st meeting between the teams this season. Jackson and Chattanooga will play 15 games this season,10 at AT&T Field.

Taijuan Walker makes his 10th start tonight for Jackson

GENERALS RECAP: The Generals swept the doubleheader with the Blue Wahoos on Friday night at Pringles Park, taking game one, 6-1 and game two, 2-1 in 10 innings. The Generals won 4 of the 5 games in the series and are 11 games above .500 for the first time in 2012. Starter Brandon Maurer tossed a 7.0-inning complete game allowing 1 run over 7.0 innings as Jackson defeated Pensacola 6-1 in game 1. Maurer (7.0,4,1,1,2,5) allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 7.0 innings to record his 3rd win of the season. The Generals scored 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning, including a 2-out 2-run home run by DH Kalian Sams (2×3, R, HR, 2 RBI). C Jesus Sucre (4×4, 2 R, 2 RBI) led the team with 4 hits, while Sams and 3B Francsico Martinez (2×2, 2B, RBI, 2 BB) each recorded multi-hit games. After allowing a run in the top of the 10th inning, the Generals responded with walkoff 2-out RBI single by 3B Francisco Martinez (2×5, 2B, 2 RBI) in the bottom half of the inning to win 2-1. CF Denny Almonte (2×4, SB) recorded the only other team multi-hit game. RH Jandy Sena (4.1,2,0,0,1,4) got the spot start for the Generals, allowing only 2 hits in 4.1 scoreless innings. The Jackson bullpen tossed 4.2 scoreless innings, before RH Steven Hensley (3.0,1,1,1,2,4) allowed a run in the top of the 10th inning. LH Bobby LaFromboise (0.2,0,0,0,0,0) and RH Carter Capps (2.0,0,0,0,1,4) each had scoreless appearances for Jackson.

TOPS IN THE LEAGUE: The Generals have the best record in the Southern League, 33-22 and boast the best ERA in the league at 2.91. The next closest is Mobile with a 3.33 team ERA.

10-DAY ROAD TRIP: Today the Generals begin their longest road trip of the season, visiting Chattanooga and Jacksonville for 5 games in each city. The Generals are 13-12 away from Pringles Park this season.

WHO’S HOT?: 3B Francisco Maritinez has hit safely in his last 7 straight games, batting (11×28) with 4 runs scored, 5 doubles and 3 RBI.

THE VETERAN CAMPBELL REACHING: 27-year-old utility man Eric Campbell went 1×3 in game 1, upping his on base streak to 22 games. During his 22-game stretch (since May 6), he hit .308 (24×78) with 13 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 13 RBI and 11 walks.
