TODAY’S GAME: The Generals begin a 5-game road series tonight at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, against the Biscuits (TB). Jackson is riding a 4-game win streak into the series. The Generals trail Chattanooga by 1/2 game in the SL North second half standings. Jackson is 8-8 against the Biscuits this season and 4-4 at Riverwalk Stadium this season.
GENERALS RECAP: The Generals won their 4th straight Tuesday over the Smokies at Pringles Park, 10-4. The Generals finished the 24-game season series with Tennessee, going 17-7. Jackson took advantage of 11 walks dished out by Smokies pitching which matched a season high. The Generals (25-19, 67-47) are back to 20-games over .500 on the year. Trailing 1-0 in the 1st inning the Generals sent 11 batters to the plate. With the bases loaded and no outs, Joe Dunigan (1×5, 3 RBI) lined a 2-RBI single to right Rich Poythress (pictured right, Adam Brimer) (.299 AVG) followed with a 3-run shot over the left field wall, his 3rd homer of the year. Jesus Sucre (4×5, 3 R) and Nate Tenbrink hit back-to-back doubles with Sucre scoring to make the score 6-1 Jackson. Tennessee scored one run in the 5th inning after a lead-off triple by Matt Cerda. Jackson answered with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the 5th. Stefen Romero was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Joe Dunigan added his third RBI on a ground out. Both teams scored 2 runs in the 6th inning to set the final score of 10-4 Jackson. LH James Paxton earned his 7th win of the season after 5 2/3 innings of work. Paxton (7-3, 3.31) allowed 4 earned runs on 7 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5.
FOR STARTERS: In 8 starts since being promoted for High Desert to Jackson, today’s starter LH Anthony Fernandez is 4-1 with a 2.73 ERA (16 ER, 52.2 IP).
