RosterPalooza Week Hits Generals
In the last 24 hours their have been eight roster moves affect the Generals roster and it seems finally that the wheel has stopped turning. I visited with Jackson manager Jim Pankovits for Friday night’s pregame show and we discussed the moves made and his thoughts and feelings about the last 24 hours. You can listen to that audio below.
In summary Brad Miller and Rich Poythress have swapped places. Carlton Tanabe and Mike Dowd are now the two Jackson catchers and Denny Almonte is now just a right-handed hitter and will make that adjustment in AA. He has been a switch hitter his entire career.
The Generals had a very cool moment earlier this afternoon on the bus ride from the hotel in Montgomery to the ballpark. Mariners Farm Director Chris Gwynn phoned Jim Pankovits and asked to speak to Brad Miller to give him the news of his promotion. After many “thank you’s” from Brad the team erupted with applause on the bus and nobody has been more worthy of it.
The Mariners added 2012 Jackson catcher Jesus Sucre to their active roster and also former Jackson short stop Carlos Triunfel. With those additions their are now four members of the 2012 Jackson team on the active roster and overall nine former Jackson players are on the active roster.
Listen to Pankovits react to roster moves below.
It was reported that Chris Taylor was being promoted from High Desert to replace Miller. Any confirmation of that?
I heard the same thing but no move has been made yet.
