TODAY’S GAME:The Generals open a 5-game series at Smokies Park tonight looking to break their season long 4-game losing streak. Tonight’s game is the 11th meeting between the two teams and Jackson leads the season series, 7-3.

GENERALS RECAP:  The Generals dropped their 4th straight to the Stars 3-2 in 11 innings on Thursday night. The Generals stranded 12 base runners in the game with 11 in scoring position. Starter Brandon Maurer allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 7 in 6.0 innings, but left with a 2- 2 tie. RH Jandy Sena (2.0,2,0,0,0,1) and RH Carter Capps (2.0,1,0,0,0,3) each tossed 2.0 scoreless innings in relief. RH Yoervis Medina (1.0,3,1,1,1,1) allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 1 in the top of the 11th inning to pick up his 3rd loss of the season. DH Joe Dunigan (2×5, RBI) and C Jesus Sucre (2×4, RBI) each had 2 hits and 1 RBI, while 2B Eric Campbell (2×3, 2 BB) also recorded a multi-hit game. LF Chris Pettit recorded Jackson’s only extra-base hit with a leadoff triple in the 4th inning and would later score on a RBI single by Sucre.

TODAY’S GAME:Today the Generals look to snap a three game losing skid in game five against the Huntsville Stars (MIL) at Pringles Park. The two teams are in a 1st place tie atop the Southern League North standings. Huntsville leads the season series, 5-4.

Andrew Carraway promoted to Tacoma today

GENERALS RECAP:  Huntsville won their 3rd straight over Jackson 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon. Since winning the opener Jackson lost won three straight and have now dropped back-to-back series for the first time this season. Starter Taijuan Walker (4.0,4,2,2,2,4) suffered his 2nd straight loss giving up 2 runs on 4 hits over 4.0 innings. Walker struck out 4 and walked 2 in his shortest outing of the season. LH Brian Moran allowed his first earned run of the season in the top of the 6th inning to record his 2nd loss of the season. Francisco Martinez recorded his 12th stolen bases of the season and currently leads all Mariner Minor Leaguers.

Generals Game Central (Wednesday, May 9)

TODAY’S GAME: Today the Generals look to snap a two game losing skid in game four of the five-game series against the Huntsville Stars (MIL) at Pringles Park. The season series between the to teams is even at 4-4 heading into today’s matchup. The Generals are 3-4 in day games this season (Starts 4pm or earlier)

GENERALS RECAP:  Generals’ starter James Paxton (3-1) allowed two runs on four hits over six innings Tuesday and took a tough luck loss. Paxton struck out seven and walked three. For the second straight game, Jackson fell to Huntsville at Pringles Park by one run with the tying run left at second base in the ninth. Huntsville defeated Jackson on Tuesday, 2-1. Huntsville scored their two runs in the top of the fifth inning with two outs on a double down the third base line by Josh Prince, scoring Lee Haydel and Matt Cline. Jackson cut it to 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning on back-to-back doubles from Francisco Martinez and Eric Campbell, but that was all Jackson could muster. The Generals threatened in the ninth inning. Joe Dunigan drew a one out walk, but Huntsville closer Robert Wooten, pitching for the second straight day retired Rich Poythress and Denny Almonte to end the game. Mauricio Robles and Carter Capps combined to blank the Stars over the final three innings, giving up just one hit.

Carroll was recovering from a dislacted shoulder suffered on April 15th against the Mississippi Braves sliding into second base in the 16th inning.

Jackson pitchers Andrew Carraway (5.2,4,0,0,1,5), LH Brian Moran (1.1,0,0,0,0,2) and RH Moises Hernandez (2.0,1,0,0,0,0) combined for the teams 4th shutout of the season. LIMONTA TO BECOME U.S. CITIZEN: Former Jackson outfielder Johan Limonta is leaving Triple-A Tacoma for two days to attend a naturalization hearing to become a U.S. citizen in Miami, FL. Limonta defected from Cuba in 2004, enrolled at Miami Dade Community College and played one season before being drafted by Seattle. Limonta is expected to return to Tacoma for Wednesday’s game.

TODAY’S GAME:The Generals look to win their sixth straight series to start the season tonight in the rubber match of the five-game series against Pensacola. The Generals are 2-0 so far in rubber games.

Brandon Maurer picked up his 2nd win last night

GENERALS RECAP:  The Generals tallied 13 hits and scored 10 runs for just the 2nd time this season as Jackson beat Pensacola 10-2 on Friday night. Jackson sent 10 batters to the plate in the top of the 2nd inning and scored 6 runs. DH Joe Dunigan (2×5, 2 R, 2 RBI) and 1B Rich Poythress (2×5, R, 2 RBI) recorded 2-RBI singles while 3B Francisco Martinez (2×6, R, 2B, RBI) and Jesus Sucre drove in single runs with hits. It marked the largest inning of the season for Jackson and put the Generals up 6-0. RF Johermyn Chavez led the team with 3 hits, going 3×5 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI. TODAY’S GAME: Tonight the Generals look to even the 5-game series against Pensacola at Maritime Park, with Jackson trailing 2-1. The Generals lead the Southern League North over Huntsville by 2 games with an 18-10 record.

GENERALS RECAP:  Starters James Paxton and Taijuan Walker combined to allow just 2 unearned runs in 11.0 innings in a double-header last night vs. Pensacola. Jackson split the double-header with Pensacola winning game 1, 3-1 and dropping game 2, 1-0. In game 2, the Generals were shutout for just the 1st time during the 2012 season. Despite the split, Jackson still remains 2 games ahead of Huntsville in the North standings. In game one, Paxton recorded his 3rd win allowing 1 run (0 ER) on 3 hits in 5.1 innings and RH Stephen Pryor struck out 4 of the 5 batters he faced to earn his 7th win. 3B Francisco Martinez led the offensive going 2×3 with 2 runs scored.
