GENERALS SWEEP HITTER AND PITCHER OF THE WEEK AWARDS

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. (JUNE 4, 2012) – The Southern League announced today that Generals’ starting pitcher Danny Hultzen was named the league’s Pitcher of the Week and Nick Franklinwas named Hitter of the Week. Hultzen and Franklin join teammate James Paxton as a winner of the award in 2012.
Hultzen, 22, made two starts this week, going 2-0, with a 0.00 ERA in 11 2/3 innings. In those starts he allowed just 7 hits along with 5 walks and 12 strikeouts. After allowing 5 runs in 4.0 innings in his first start of the season, Hultzen has allowed only 5 earned runs in 58.1 innings (0.77 ERA), lowering his ERA from 11.25 to 1.44 ERA. During this stretch he has limited opponents to a .149 average (29×195), while walking 27 and striking out 60. Overall in 11 starts this season, Hultzen is 6-3 with a 1.44 ERA (10 ER, 62.1 IP).
