GENERALS SWEEP HITTER AND PITCHER OF THE WEEK AWARDS
Danny Hultzen, SL Pitcher of the Week, Nick Franklin, SL Hitter of the Week

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. (JUNE 4, 2012) – The Southern League announced today that Generals’ starting pitcher Danny Hultzen was named the league’s Pitcher of the Week and Nick Franklinwas named Hitter of the Week. Hultzen and Franklin join teammate James Paxton as a winner of the award in 2012.

Hultzen, 22, made two starts this week, going 2-0, with a 0.00 ERA in 11 2/3 innings. In those starts he allowed just 7 hits along with 5 walks and 12 strikeouts. After allowing 5 runs in 4.0 innings in his first start of the season, Hultzen has allowed only 5 earned runs in 58.1 innings (0.77 ERA), lowering his ERA from 11.25 to 1.44 ERA. The win marked Jackson’s 4th in a row and 6th shutout of the season. Hultzen allowed 2 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 6 in 5.2 innings to record his team-leading 6th win. SS Nick Franklin (4×4, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI, BB) homered and was 4-for-4 at the plate with a walk and 3 RBI. Franklin is 6×6 with a 1 in his last 7 plate appearances. In 2 1/3 innings Saturday and Sunday, Pryor allowed one run and struck out four White Sox batters.
