TODAY’S GAME:
• The Generals look to snap a current 4-game losing streak with game 2 of the 5-game set at Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville…the Generals have dropped 3 straight series’ after winning their first 3 and are 3-7 in the last 10 games.

GENERALS RECAP:
• The Generals dropped their 4th straight as Jackson was shutout by Huntsville 2-0 on Monday night in the opener of the 5-game series.
• The loss sent the Generals to 3 games below .500 for the first time this season. The Generals finished the night 0-for-11 with RISP and were shutout for the 4th time.
• Starter James Gillheeney (3.0,2,0,0,0,2) allowed only 2 hits and struck out 2 in 3.0 scoreless innings, but didn’t factor into the decision.
• LH Kyle Hunter (3.1,5,2,2,0,2,WP) recorded his first loss of the season after allowing 2 runs in the 5th inning. RH Richard Vargas (1.2,0,0,0,0,2) stranded an inherited runner and retired all 4 batters faced to close out the game.
• SS Ketel Marte (2×4, 2B) led the team with 2 hits, while RF Nate Melendres (1×3, 2B, BB), 1B Dan Paolini (1×4) and C Mike Dowd (1×4) each recorded 1 of the teams 5 hits.

7 IS THE MAGIC NUMBER FOR MARTE:
• SS Ketel Marte has hit safely in each of his last 7 games, batting .321 (9×28) with 4 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 walk and 5 stolen baes. This is his 3rd 7-game hitting streak of the season. After recording only 2 stolen bases in his first 17 games to begin the season, Marte has stole 8 bases in his last 11 games.

HOBSON NAMED SL PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
• The Southern League announced Monday that LHP Cam Hobson has been named Southern League Pitcher of the Week for his performance April 29-May 4. Hobson made 2 starts this past week going 1-0, with a 0.00 ERA having tossed 13 scoreless innings. He allowed just 9 hits while walking 2 and striking out 4 this week. Hobson picked up the win last Monday during the season finale at Mobile firing 6.0 shutout innings and followed it up with 7.0 shutout innings in a no decision on Saturday night against Pensacola.

THE RELIEVING MASCHEEN:
• RH Stephen Kohlscheen has allowed 1 earned run over his last 13.0 innings in relief (9 G). Overall this season he is 1-0 with 2 saves and a 1.26 ERA (2 ER, 14.1 IP) in 10 relief appearances. He has limited opponents to a .241 average (13×54), while walking 1 and striking out 16.

AROUND THE MARINERS MINORS YESTERDAY:
• AAA: Las Vegas 7, at Tacoma 5 (7.0 IP) L-Miner (0-1)
at Tacoma 3, Las Vegas 2 15-13, 1st, +1.0 W-Rapada (4-0) – The Rainiers scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning, but it wasn’t enough as Tacoma lost to Las Vegas 7-5 in the
suspended game from Sunday night. DH/1B Jesus Montero (0x3, RBI, 2 BB) and 3B/2B Ty Kelly (0x3, RBI, 2 BB) each walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th inning as the Rainiers walked-off with a 3-2 win over Las Vegas on Monday night.
• A+: at Rancho Cucamonga 10, at High Desert 6 18-14, T2nd, -2.0 L-Chen (1-1) – The Mavericks held a 5-2 lead heading into the bottom of the 7th inning, but allowed 8 runs as High Desert lost to Rancho Cucamonga 10-6 on Monday night.
• A-: Clinton 5, at Burlington 1 15-14, T4th, -6.0 W-Campbell (2-1) – SS Jack Reinheimer and LF Tyler O’Neill each drove in 2 runs as Clinton defeated Burlington 5-1 on Monday night.

• The Generals play the 2nd of 25 meetings with the Huntsville Stars tonight in game 2 of the series. The clubs will meet 15 times in Huntsville and 10 times in Jackson during the 2014 season. This is the final season of baseball at Joe Davis Stadium, which dates back to 1985. The club will move to a brand new facility in Biloxi, MS next season.
• Last season Jackson was 9-9 against the Stars and 6-6 at Joe Davis Stadium.
