TODAY’S GAME:
• The Generals continue the 5-game series (1-0) with Pensacola tonight with game 2 of the set..the Generals went 1-4 on the last road trip to Mobile…this is the 2nd of 10 meetings this season with the Wahoos and their only visit to Jackson.
• Tonight is Dollar Thursday, presented by MobileNation with $1 hot dogs, popcorn , 12 oz beer and soda and $5 reserved seats.

GENERALS RECAP:
• Starter James Gillheeney and relievers Moises Hernandez and Mayckol Guaipe combined on a 2-hit shutout as Jackson defeated Pensacola 5-0 on Wednesday night.
• Gillheeney (6.0,2,0,0,3,3) recorded his first win with the Generals, allowing only 1 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts over 6.0 scoreless innings.
• Hernandez (2.0,0,0,0,0,1) and Guaipe (1.0,0,0,0,0,1) combined to retire the final 9 batters to close out the game.
• CF Jamal Austin (1×1), PH/CF Leon Landry (1×3, R, 2B), SS Ketel Marte (1×4, R), RF Kevin Rivers (1×3, R, HR, 2 RBI, BB), LF Dan Paolini (1×4, RBI), DH Mickey Wiswall (1×2, 2 R, HR, RBI, BB), and 1B Ramon Morla (1×3, BB) each recorded 1 of the Generals 7 hits.
• Rivers hit his 2nd home runs of the season with a 2-run blast in the first innings, while Wiswall also hit his 2nd homer of the season with a solo shot to lead off the 6th inning.

BACK-TO-BACK SHUTOUT STARTS:
• Jackson starters Cam Hobson and James Gillheeney combined for 12.0 shutout innings on 7 hits over their starts on Monday and Wednesday respectively. In total, Jackson starters have logged 8 quality starts (6-2) so far this season.

HOW MANY STARTERS SO FAR!?!?:
• After yesterday’s spot start by LH Jordan Shipers, the Generals have used 11 starters in the first 25 games of the season. Trevor Miller, Stephen Landazuri, Victor Sanchez, Jordan Pries, Cam Hobson, Taijuan Walker, Kyle Hunter, Moises Hernandez, Jochi Ogando, James Gillheeney, and Shipers.

WON’T GO DOWN WITHOUT A FIGHT:
• Generals batters have struck out the fewest amount of times in the Southern League so far in 2014 (167, 6.4 SO/G).
• OF Jamal Austin leads the league in total plate appearances per strikeout (1/15), with OF Leon Landry (1/12.83) ranking 2nd and SS Ketel Marte (1/9.82)

SERIES OF ROSTER MOVES MADE WEDNESDAY:
• The Generals made four roster moves prior to the opener against Pensacola on Wednesday. RHP David Colvin was placed on the DL, OF Nate Melendres was activated from the DL. OF Jabari Blash was promoted to AAA Tacoma. C Manny Pina was activated from AAA Tacoma.

WHO’S HOT!?!?:
• RHP Mayckol Guaipe has not allowed an earned run over 15.0 innings to begin the season (8 G). He has limited opponents .196 (11×56) average, while walking 1 and striking out 15.
• RH Stephen Kohlscheen has allowed 1 earned run over his last 12.0 innings in relief (8 G). Overall this season he is 1-0 with 2 saves and a 1.35 ERA (2 ER, 13.1 IP) in 9 relief appearances. He has limited opponents to a .240 average (12×50), while walking 1 and striking out 16. LHP
James Gillheeney is 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA (2 ER, 11.0 IP) in 2 starts with Jackson.

HOSTING THE WAHOOS:
• The Generals host the Pensacola Blue Wahoos for the only time this season, April 30-May 4 at The Ballpark at Jackson.
• The lone trip to Pensacola for Jackson will be August 6-10 at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.
• The Generals were 6-4 last season against the Wahoos and since coming into the league in 2012 Jackson is 15-11 against the Cincinnati Reds’ Double-A affiliate.
• The Wahoos roster features 4 of the Reds top 10 prospects according to Baseball America. No. 1 RHP Robert Stephenson, No. 5 OF Yorman Rodriguez (DL), No. 6 RHP Michael Lorensen, No. 7 Carlos Contreras and No. 13 RHP Daniel Corcino.
