Generals All-Star outfielder James Jones delivered a clutch pinch hit 2-RBI triple on Thursday night that led to the Generals 8-3 win over the Mississippi Braves. Jones talks about the big hit as well as his long travel day back from the All-Star game in Jacksonville earlier on Thursday.

GENERALS RECAP: Sunday’s game between the Generals and Smokies was cancelled because of rain and unplayable field conditions. The game will not be made up due to the teams not meeting again this season. The Smokies won all 6 games during the series, including the resumption of the game from June 28 and finished the season series with a 16-3 advantage. Southern League All-Star Primer with North Manager Jim Pankovits

The Southern League All-Star Game takes place on Wednesday at Bragan Field at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. Julio Morban, James Jones and Roenis Elias were selected from the Jackson Generals. Generals Manager Jim Pankovits manages his fourth All-Star Game and second in the Southern League. Pankovits was designated the task of making out the starting lineup for the North Division. He discussed his experiences playing against each player as well as other topics surrounding the game.

Grant Braden talked it over with Jim Pankovits.

Due to an injury OF Julio Morban was scratched from the All-Star Game. Pankovits released his new starting lineup Sunday:

BACK TO THE FUTURE: Generals 1B Ji-Man Choi will miss tonight and tomorrow’s game due to playing in the 2013 Futures Game at Citi Field in New York on Sunday. Also, Smokies INF Arismendy Alcantara will miss the next 2 games as well being a teammate of Choi’s on the World squad. Former Jackson pitcher Taijuan Walker will be a member of the U.S. squad. The game will be at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

GENERALS RECAP: The Generals suffered a tough doubleheader sweep Friday at the hands of the Tennessee Smokies, as Jackson mustered only 1 run in 19 innings of baseball. Jackson pitching posted a 1.42 ERA in the doubleheader, but lost twice. Tennessee took the first game 2-0 in 10-inninns. They came right back in the nightcap and snagged a 2-1 victory in 9 frames. Starting pitchers Kyle Hunter and Anthony Vasquez combined to allow just 1 run in 12 innings on the mound. Both recieved no decisions. Jackson’s only run in the doubleheader came from a solo home run in the 3rd inning of game 2 from C Michael Dowd. It was his first Double-A homer.

TODAY’S GAME: the Generals continue a 7-game series in 5 days against the Tennessee Smokies today with game #3 of the series (0-2)…the Generals are 3-12 against the Smokies this season and 1-6 against TNS at home this season… 24-year-old LHP Roenis Elias makes his 17th start for the Generals and 3rd of the season vs. TNS. GENERALS RECAP: The first 2 games of a 7-game set with Tennessee did not go in Jackson’s direction, as the Smokies took both against the Generals with scores of 7-2 and 5-2. The first game was the completion of the June 28th game between the 2 teams that was cancelled because of rain. Jackson’s season-high 4-game win streak was brought to an end with the loss. In game 1, 3B Ramon Morla (2×3, R, 2B) recorded the team’s only multi-hit game, while LF Jack Marder (1×2, RBI) and DH Leon Landry (1×2, RBI, BB) each knocked in 1 of the Generals 2 runs. TODAY’S GAME: the Generals begin a 7-game series in 5 days against the Smokies today with a doubleheader that includes the conclusion of a suspended 7-inning game from June 28 at Tennessee with the Smokies up 2-1 in the bottom of the 2nd…30 minutes following the completion there will another 7-inning game. 29-year-old RHP Moises Hernandez will pick up the game on the mound in game 1 while 22-year-old LHP Anthony Fernandez makes his 13th start of the year, 89th of his career and 26th for the Generals in game 2.

DID YOU KNOW?: that during the conclusion of the suspended game today the Generals will serve as the visiting team. The game began at Smokies Park on June 28 before rain suspended the game in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Also, the Smokies Park attendance from June 28 will be the attendance for the game. The Generals will be the home team for the remainder of the series including the other rescheduled game from the series at Tennessee on Friday.

GENERALS RECAP: LF Jack Marder hit a 2-run home run in the top of the 2nd inning as Jackson held of for a 3-2 win over Pensacola on Monday night. 1B Steven Proscia (1×4, RBI) knocked in the Generals 3rd run of the game with a RBI single in the in the 3rd inning. Marder (1×2, R, HR, 2 RBI), Proscia, 2B Chris Taylor (1×3, R) and 3B Ramon Morla (1×3, R) each recorded one of the team’s 4 hits. Starter Chance Ruffin (3.0,6,2,2,2,3) allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in 3.0 innings, but didn’t figure into the decision. Relievers RH Stephen Kohlscheen (3.1,0,0,0,1,2), LH Nick Hill (1.0,2,0,0,0,0) and RH Stephen Shackleford (1.2,0,0,0,3,2) combined to strike out 4 batters in 6.0 scoreless innings. Kohlscheen recorded his 3rd win with Jackson, while Shackleford earned his first save since being promoted to AA.
