GENERALS RECAP:
• The Jacksonville Suns exacted their revenge on the Generals for the first 3 games of this series as they pounded out 16 hits and scored 12 runs to earn a 12-4 win Saturday in Jackson.
• The game was played in front of the largest crowd of the season, 6,413 at The Ballpark at Jackson.
• Starter Stephen Landazuri suffered the loss drawing his first start since April 22nd. He allowed 7 runs on 6 hits in just 1.2 innings. Moises Hernandez (0-4, 5.87) came out of the bullpen for 2.1 innings and gave up three more runs on five hits. Cam Hobson (4-5, 3.28) pitched well in relief as the Suns only scored twice on five hits over the final 5.0 innings with Hobson on the mound.
• Jackson had 10 hits as DH Jamal Austin extended his hitting streak to a team-high 13 games and 3B Patrick Kivlehan extended his on base streak to 23 games, currently the longest in the Southern League.

I FEEL A DRAFT:
• The Mariners have signed OF Gareth Morgan from North York in Toronto (Ontario) Canada, the club’s 2nd selection (74th overall pick) in the 2014 Draft. Morgan, 18, is a 6-foot-4, 220-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder. He has played both RF and CF during his high school career. He is scheduled to report to the AZL Mariners in the AZ Rookie League. The Mariners have signed 14 of their 40 draft picks.

Today’s Roster Moves: 
The Seattle Mariners have announced the following roster moves that affect the Generals roster. C Manny Piña has been outright traded to Detroit and will report to AAA Toledo. INF Mickey Wiswall has been activated from R Pulaski. Also, OF Julio Morban has been transferred to Jackson from extended spring training and placed on the disabled list. The moves are made prior to tonight’s series opener at 7:05 p.m. against the Jacksonville Suns at The Ballpark at Jackson.

Piña, 26, played in 17 games for the Generals and batted .279 (17×61) with 4 doubles, 2 home runs and 10 RBI. He began the season with AAA Tacoma and in 4 games batted .214 (3×14) with a double and 3 RBI. Piña made his MLB debut for the Kansas City Royals in 2011 and played in 5 big league games from 2011-2012. He was signed by the Mariners as a minor league free agent on January 17, 2014.

Wiswall, 25, was batting .223 (33×148) with 4 doubles, a team-leading 5 home runs and 16 RBIs. Wiswall missed all of last season due to a torn hamstring. Wiswall was drafted by the Mariners in the 7th round of the 2010 draft out of Boston College. Wiswall resides in Stoneham, MA

Morban, 22, began the 2014 season with AAA Tacoma and batted .250 (5×20) with a double and RBI for the Rainers from April 18-April 27. He was transferred to extended spring training on April 30.

In 2013, Morban batted .295 (87×295) with 20 doubles, 5 triples, 7 home runs and 44 RBI in 86 games with the Generals. He was named a Southern League midseason All-Star and also named Southern League Hitter of the Week (6/17-6/24).

Morban was placed on the DL Aug. 21 with a right tibula fracture. He ranked 3rd in the Southern League in batting at time of his injury and batted .354 (29×82) with runners in scoring position.

GENERALS RECAP:
• After taking an early 3-1 lead, the Barons scored 8 runs from the 4th through the 8th and took game 3 of the series 9-3.
• SS Ketel Marte (1×4, RBI R) extended his hitting streak to 13 with an RBI single in the second inning.
• Dan Paolini (2×4) recorded his 18th double while C John Hicks (3×4, R) recorded his second 3-hit game of the season and CF Leon Landry (2×4, R) added multi-hit performances in Jackson’s 11-hit effort.
• Recorded double-digit hit totals in 7 straight games.
• Starter Forrest Snow (5.2,8,5,4,0,3) suffered the loss in his second start of the season, allowing 5 runs, including 2 home runs. Relievers Kyle Hunter (1.1,5,3,3,0,0) and Moises Hernandez (1.0,3,1,1,0,0) combined to allow 4 runs over 2.1 innings.

• The Generals defeated the Barons 4-1 to win to take a 2-0 series lead…only the second time this season (4/3-5/1 vs PNS) winning first 2 games of a series.
• SS Ketel Marte (1×3) had a 2-run go-ahead double (17th) with the bases loaded in the 8th inning and extended his hitting streak to 12 games. It ties for thel longest by a General this season.
• 1B Dan Paolini (2×4) had an RBI double in the 4th to give Jackson a 1-0 lead…his 17th double of the season and now has an RBI in 5 straight games.
• CF Jamal Austin (2×4) and 3B Pat Kivlehan (2×4) added multi-hit games.
• Starter Matt Anderson (5.0,8,1,1,0,4) did not factor into the decision. Reliever Stephen Shackleford (2.0,1,0,0,1,3) earned his 5th victory with a scoreless 6th and 7th and is first JXN pitcher to 5 wins.
